In this piece, I am exploring how Nikon has made it more and more difficult to have your camera repaired. This has unfortunately become a common issue with tech companies, but some things make this especially inconvenient. In 2012 they stopped selling parts to independent repair shops and required them to be authorized, or they couldn’t get parts. Following this, there were only about fifteen places in the United States where you could have your camera repaired. Fast forward to 2020, Nikon has stopped supplying replacement parts entirely, leaving only the two official Nikon facilities as an option. Even with the fifteen repair options, getting your camera back often took at least a week. This likely means it will be an even longer wait now. This is a critical issue for people who need an urgent repair, as they have no option but to wait.
